Am I in America or have I died and gone to Hell? July 02, 2005 COL Harry Riley, USA, Ret With our Independence Day celebration of 2005 comes a time to ponder the foundation principles of our nation and where we are today vis-à-vis what the founding fathers established. About the only visible foundation laid by our forefathers that continues to exist today are the shells that house our three branches of the federal government…..the principles associated with government are but faint memories. Our moral compass is in a virtual spin; the political process is controlled by big business, lobbies, political machine, graft, greed; our pulpits are slinking behind tax free status; our Ten Commandments, the bedrock of national development is reduced to an outdated symbol; we are killing babies by the millions; kids are killing kids; men are marrying men and women are marrying women; sexual deviants are roaming near uncontrolled; heterosexual marriage is viewed as radical and intolerant; our schools are focused on “relativism” without a stable, solid foundation; the US Courts are making laws, the US Congress is without rudder and running scared; the White House is owned by corporations, God is not welcome in public; and in effect all control by “we the people” has been lost. The leadership in the White House, Congress and Supreme Court are at best ineffective. President Bush is shielded with so many layers of staff he doesn’t know what is going on; has anyone heard from the Speaker of the House, Dennis Hastert, R-IL, in the last year? What about Senator Frist, R-TN, majority leader in the Senate….flip flop jelly sound is heard as he tries to appease the opposition, nearly every time he speaks. In addition the leadership allows a significant number of Congressional members to be AWOL but continue to draw the enormous salary. Now the US Supreme Court (which has transformed from legal to political) has ruled private property can be confiscated by government and given to private developers if the politicians find benefit to the tax base and citizens would have another place to shop, moor their boat, or play golf………if there was any courage in our Congress, there would be a vote scheduled to take the necessary steps to over turn the black robed tyrants decision, if not initiate impeachment action. Our current US Supreme Court is destroying our Constitution and “we the people” stand by as a flock of sheep waiting for the slaughter. As a military man I particularly resent the destruction of our Constitution and reflect on the millions of lives lost, disabled, widows, prisoners, that have and still suffer personal and mental wounds while trying to protect our Constitution. Our military most always takes back seat to political “pork” and funding nearly every nation on earth before Congress considers (if they do) the commitments and obligations made to our warriors…..the political machine has no problem sending our sons and daughters into harms way, but forgets the cost associated and slights our warriors regularly. Worse yet, there is a political motive behind the treasonous hue and cry to prematurely leave Iraq. Those in Congress and elsewhere that refer to our warriors in derogatory terms appear to lack fox-hole experience and seem to be totally ignorant that their rhetoric undermines our troops morale and gives aid and comfort to the enemy, While our warriors past and present fight to protect, maintain, and secure our Constitution, the political mechanism, which includes the courts, is systematically rendering our founding fathers efforts obsolete. No, I have not died but America has gone to hell……..only through God’s grace and mercy will we survive as a free nation. It is such a shame that OUR GOVERNMENT is what it has become
today. I am glad that I will be dead when our once great
country is more like what Russia used to be like. We are
losing more and more of our rights to a few that don't
believe in God and country. The more I know Bush the more I

110% in this and most of your other articles. As I have
told you before, I too have been there and I do know
where, what, why, and of whom you speak. Sadly, I read a
few of the comments and the ones that so completely floor
me (and which prove to me that we are indeed on that
slippery downhill slope) are the ones who continually
whine, harp and decry our presence in IRAQ and brand it as
an illegal war that is based solely on (1) the President's
lies or (2) to protect Israel.... Well neither view is
correct and the folks that hold those views are just
ignorant fools who parrot the Democrats liberal views and
who by lying often enough about the cause of the war feel
that they will be able to sway public opinion away from
the Republicans and back to the Democrats. Well Harry, the
Voters already decided that and it was overwhelming and
they lost and still cannot understand why. I can offer an
answer which I am sure than none will understand. Just as
you have told us all what is happening, and just as you
are correct, they will not understand that either because
they do not know enough to study the facts and do the
research to reach their own informed conclusions. Too bad
folks but you just failed history 101, US
Government 101, and just about every basic educational tenant ever devised by those folks who so completely and single handedly have created a few generations of incompetent idiots who just do not get it. I am especially disappointed in that regular Army Sgt. retired who swears asterisks instead of using proper language. Sgt, too bad but you would not have made a pimple on a good Marine's rear on your best day. Go back to the books and read up on what defending your country really means. The Colonel does know. Comment: Torture in the context you use is purely political....comparing Japanese/Nazis torture chambers to American action is absurd...we still have plenty of WWII/Korea/Viet Nam POWs that can describe torture in personal terms. There is not a shred of difference between Republican, Democrat, Independent, et al.......they are all politicians and spew rhetoric that fits their political agenda, just as you do........and finally, you may or may not recall when abortion became legalized....the rhetoric was "it will only happen in isolated cases and then only in the first trimester".....well, that slippery slope has taken us to killing babies that are exiting the birth canal....called "partial birth abortion"....you have any idea where homosexuals want to take us.......and you refer to me as being deluded...... Col Riley, The sell out to the Chinese communists government, the "outsourcing" of millions of American jobs, the gutting and complete loss of entire markets ie, Manufacturing , Information Technology, Steel production, etc. etc. These markets and jobs will NEVER return to our shores, these millions of jobs and employers are gone for good. Then there is the TSUNAMI of illegal aliens washing over every state and border this beaten up worn down country has. The results is diseases once eradicated are now rearing their ugly heads again brought in by third world peoples given a free pass by the Traitor in Chief George W. Bush and his co-conspirators. Emergency rooms are closing all along our border states because of the ENORMOUS financial burden these social pariahs cost the tax paying CITIZENS of this once honorable nation. Wars are still being manufactured and fought with the blood and limbs of the rank and file populations Sons, Daughters, Fathers and Mothers while the ELITES children are receiving breakfast in bed with a Silver Spoon. Amazingly, military personnel are still under the opinion that they are fighting on fourth world soil for US. The reality is they are fighting on a global chess board for the World Elites amusement and portfolios. Sadly, the military still does not see the DOMESTIC ENEMY AT THE GATES. "While the cats away the mice will play". I firmly believe (hope) that the next revolution will be when the Satanic Homosexuals currently in charge in Washington come after our children in the next draft, and there will be another draft. There are to many contrived wars and "Terror Threats" planned for there not to be. The emasculation of the American Military began under the First Black President" Bill Clinton. you claimed that the "hue and cry" to leave Iraq

1) Sir, this UNCONSTITUTIONAL WAR IN IRAQ
IS TREASONOUS!
2) Sorry for shouting,
but only Congress, not the President, has authority to make
a declaration of war; unfortunately, our Congressmen and
Senators were too cowardly to made a definite stand like
that, either for or against, but tried to play both sides (Exhibit
#1: John Kerry).
3) Also, Bush's whole
basis for this war was a tissue of LIES- no WMD, no ties to bin
Laden or 911,etc.
4) In the actual war
planning, those military commanders who disagreed with the rosy
scenarios and tried to tell the truth (it would actually take
500,000 troops and LOTS more money than predicted) about Iraq
were fired or demoted, so our troops were misled by their own
leadership, who went along to save their careers. Our military
men and women are dying unnecessarily because or their
cowardice!
5) Our continue
presence in Iraq gives "hope and comfort" to
every anti-American terrorist around the world, for as
long as we interfere in other countries, we give them excuses to
hate us. Imagine how YOU would feel if Communist China kept
interfering with American affairs, both economically and
politically, and told us how to run OUR country!.

PS. By the war, Americans speaking their minds about the government is NEVER treasonous! As the old saying goes "We are NOT living in Russia", at least not yet The Col is wrong when he says:

Col I am sorry to tell you that they are NOT "totally ignorant. " It is far more that they care about their political agenda REGARDLESS of any or even severe damage to our soldiers. The politicos are NOT the ones who pay the price. But they should be.
Shame on any nation who forgets their warriors who hold back the
ravening horde. Other nations have done this and lived to rue the
day they did. We treat our soldiers with disdain and cannot
recognize patriotism because we are so blinded by self interest.
When any nation does not provide the very best in medical care for
their military then that nation has lost all sense of honor and
recognition of obligation. That is an essential base of
honor, duty, country which has been our military's mantra.
What will we do when that is supplanted with the selfish civilian
mantra of "anything goes if I profit thereby"?
I agree with everything you say EXCEPT the bit about your Warriors
"fight to protect, maintain, and secure our Constitution". The U.S. Supreme is nothing more than 5 miniature versions of Adolph Hitler with black robes. They are trying to appease the left wing radicals of the nation and in doing so are ripping the constitution into so many parts if we don't start now we will never have it back together. The replacement for justice O'Connor needs to be right wing conservative and one that thinks that interpretation of the constitution is what he or she is hired to do. The court does not have legislative powers that is reserved for the legislative arm of government. I believe the fight for the court should be fought with no holds barred and if Bill Frist will not use the Senate Rule XII or Nuke Rule then he should be replaced with a leader that will. The current court is corrupt and nothing a model of the Warren Court that was worst than the Nazi Party of Germany. I pray the President will have the fortitude to find a staunch conservative to replace justice O'Connor and then will force the up or down vote for that person even it the nuke rule has to be employed.

Truth is sometimes hard to swallow. But the truth in this post is easy. Slides down the gullet like fresh oysters on the half shell. Only difference is, this truth is not very tastey. Col., my personal congratulations for the self-evident truths in your blog post. I am ashamed to call myself a Patriot, because being a Patriot is no longer vogue. Being a man of faith is no longer vogue. Being a man is no longer vogue. In his landmark Sci-Fi, DUNE, Frank Herbert wrote that truth can be unstable. Our values have been shaken to instability, our so-called leaders in both houses have become self serving, self centered adversaries. In lieu of doing our bidding, following the will of We The People, they are following their own will. May God have mercy on this nation, once much greater for It's sense of honor and of values, tradition, love of God and love of country. No longer. I am a 62 year old man, retired and very tired.
