Does our President have any credibility in lecturing business on "keeping promises? He forgets military retirees were promised and earned lifetime medical which is denied
President Bush made the following statement 05 December 2005 while speaking to a business gathering in North Carolina. "My message to corporate America is you need to fulfill your promises." "When you say to a worker, "This is what they're going to get when they retire, you better put enough money in the account to make sure the worker gets that what you said." "So Congress needs to straighten up these rules," "And I'm not going to sign a bill that weakens pension funding for the American workers," Bush said. Here's what President Bush said in a pre-inaugural address on 19 January 2001: "In order to make sure that morale is high with those who wear the uniform today, we must keep our commitment to those who wore the uniform in the past.... We will make sure promises made to our veterans will be promises kept." How about Mr. President, are you going to tell Congress to straighten out the rules and honor the commitments made to military retirees? Oh you say, that costs too much...the lives and bodily destruction, widows sacrifice and orphans impact does not measure up to workers promises? Is that the message America is sending it's warriors? President Bush's remarks to the business community on keeping promises must rank with the most hypocritical, disingenuous, cruel, and insensitive statements ever to leave either side of a politicians mouth. Does the President, his advisors, and writers have any idea the message he sends to members of the military community, past and present? How can a national leader ignore and yes, actively oppose promised and earned medical care to those that leave life, blood, and body parts on the battlefield in protecting freedom? Recruits were promised by their own government that if they served a career of 20 years or more in military service, then they and their dependants would receive life-time, government funded health care upon retirement. But while these career soldiers put their lives on the line for our country, the government has not kept its end of the contract. I want to take liberty with President Bush's statement today and substitute one word. Here is the way it would read and it's what the government said for decades: "My message to America is you need to fulfill your promises." "When you say to a warrior, "This is what they're going to get when they retire, you better put enough money in the account to make sure the warrior gets that what you said." Mr. President, you take a step forward and shoot yourself in both feet...you want corporate America to keep it's promises to workers but you and the Republican Congress deny WWII/Korea era military retirees their promised and earned medical care. We must be in the season of "political swarms" like termites....we have politicians admitting bribery, others crashing the morale of our troops, uplifting the enemy, making hypocritical statements, and it's all tied to "personal selfish advantage"...integrity is of the past. Why does a warrior or widow have to beg and fight his/her own government for promised and earned compensation? God help us. Mr. President, warriors are not asking for special favors...just their due. President Bush is a hypocrite, and has done nothing for the military
retiree but SCREW us. I feel sorry for those in uniform today because I
know the thanks they will get when they retire. I am writing letters to
the editor against military recruiters in school because of the LIES
they told me and millions of other military retiree's. If they want
recruits let them bring back the draft with no draft dogging loop holes,
everyone is eligible.
Phil Conrad MSGT USAF (retired) 914 Alison Ave. Mechanicsburg, PA. 17055 Dear Brother George My President,
I heard through another man who attended Crown College in
Tennessee that the President of that Christian College not only knows
you personally, but that he knows that George W.Bush has been Born
Again. I only know for sure of one person that is saved, and that person
is me. I do not deserve God's love, but He loved me long before I loved
Him. I pray often for you for God to give you the Grace to stand up and
tell this world WHO GOD is, that His name Is JESUS CHRIST. Soon you will
loose the chance to stand up as President Of The United States and let
everyone know from your lips, that Jesus is Lord, and GOD. Please do not
fail.
I am a retired Navy Senior Chief, and also ask you to remember the
promises made to we who served long long months away from home, away
from our Wives and Children,to carry out the missions that both you and
other Presidents sent us on. We did our part, and now eighteen years
after retirement I find myself as my fellow other service retirees, just
getting by.
I will continue to pray for you because I believe in you, but more
than that, I am commanded by my Lord and God to pray for you.
May God burden your heart for this great country and people. May
He give you much grace in doing so. Anchored IN The Precious Blood of
CHRIST JESUS,
Chauncey M. Freeman,SCPO,USN,RETIRED
Have said this before, What Politicians say to the Warriors has
never repeat never been truthful or backed up by action. They may be
honest when they start their career but it only lasts until they get to
Washington's House Dear Mr. President, Research reveals the following: On
December 5, 2005 before a business group in North Carolina you stated
"...This is what they are going to get when they retire...".
In a pre-inaugural address on January 19, 2001 you said "...we must
keep our commitment to those who Mr. President: You made a statement the other day...I have replaced the word warrior in the place you had "worker" ...would you be willing to make the following statement? "My message to America is you need to fulfill your promises." "When you say to a warrior, "This is what they're going to get when they retire, you better put enough money in the account to make sure the warrior gets that what you said." Mr. President, you take a step forward and shoot yourself in both feet...you want corporate America to keep it's promises to workers but you and the Republican Congress deny WWII and Korea era military retirees their promised and earned medical care. I am a widow of a 100% service-connected Air Force Sr. Master Sgt. He died in January 2003 because of those service-connected disabilities. He had paid for survivor benefits for me and when he died, the government took that money away from me. My income has been drastically reduced because of this. You can fix this! It is up to you to do the right thing for our military as soon as possible. Freda Schroeppel, Widow of one of America's warriors I listened to a bit of his speech yesterday, and I must admit I had to
change channels. He actually sounds like a whiner. He is so dishonest
he has to read a sheet of paper, spurt out a few words, and I too heard and saw that fornicating display of arrogance!! Or,....... Is it he's so stupid as to think nobody is really listening? Andy I have all the respect in the world for the OFFICE of the
President of the United States. What I don't have is any respect for
the current occupant of the oval office.
Harry,
I listened to part of the subject speech and heard Bush's advice to
corporations to ensure that the
pensions were funded and promises kept to their workers. It occurred
to me at that time that he
should follow his own advice with regard to our military retirees.
You've said it for all of us!
Keith
